In the Projects sections of our website, you are invited to hear about the need, catch a vision for what can be done, and visit our projects in various areas of AIDS intervention.
The Need
Behind every bleak HIV/AIDS statistic is the face of an individual -- a person intensely afflicted. A teenager unaware of the risk becomes infected with the terminal disease of HIV through a casual sexual encounter. A woman discovers that her husband has been unfaithful to her when she tests HIV-positive. A mother holds her sickly newborn in her arms and grieves that she has passed the virus to her infant. A man on death’s door does not know where to access life-saving antiretroviral treatment. An orphan child is psychologically traumatized after the loss of his young mother from AIDS. A man with an AIDS-related cancer cries out in pain to a hospice worker visiting his home. A church member ill with AIDS seeks out her pastor for counsel and spiritual care.
LifeRise Strategy
Individuals like those described above may be thought of as the “bruised reeds and smoldering wicks” mentioned in Matthew 12:20 – bent over with suffering and ready to break, the lights of their lives dimmed. LifeRise AIDS Resources raises them up to stand tall and strong, and fans the flames of their lives to burn brightly.
LifeRise meets the desperate physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals wounded from HIV/AIDS through our service delivery projects in the areas of prevention, treatment, and care. By service delivery, we mean the direct delivery of practical health and social services to beneficiaries. By projects, we mean a plan to serve a certain number of beneficiaries over a specified period of time for a budgeted cost. Our grassroots evangelical Christian partners in developing countries conduct the projects, while LifeRise AIDS Resources supports projects with funding and technical assistance.
In our projects, LifeRise meets practical needs one-on-one, presenting love and compassion to one hurting heart at a time. Through this focus on individuals and their personal distress, we are confident that we will impact HIV/AIDS on a larger scale, bringing hope and transformation to families, communities, and countries.
