Medical and Technical Assistance

There are a myriad of medical and technical issues in HIV/AIDS. Indigenous Christians that LifeRise AIDS Resources serves will most likely need to add to their knowledge and skills in these areas in order to be most effective. For example, medical issues are involved in testing, treatment, and palliative care. Technical issues are involved in planning, managing, and monitoring projects financially and programmatically. Technical assistance may be needed to help grassroots partners deliver the most effective prevention messages, counsel a person living with HIV, implement best practices for orphan care, and utilize appropriate technologies for sustainability, among other services.

Network

In order to assist grassroots partners with technical issues, LifeRise will give opportunity for organizations that receive our entry-level grant (see Grants) to become part of our network to receive medical and technical assistance and other resources. There are no membership fees to be part of our network, but an organization must have received one of our grants. Depending on LifeRise capacity, an organization that has received a grant may no longer be included in our network after a specified period of time. In order to be readmitted to our network, an organization must apply for and receive another entry-level grant. This is to make room for new partners.

LifeRise may draw from our own staff of AIDS specialists, as well as consultants and volunteers with professional skills to provide medical and technical assistance to our partners.

Through our system of providing technical support to our partners who have received entry-level grants, we will build their capacity even if they do not qualify for more funding and advance to higher level grants.

As LifeRise capacity allows, we offer the following resources:

• Regular communications on “best practices” and results of the latest research as applied to service delivery
• Development of standards and guidelines
• Provision of tools, education materials, and training curricula
• Training
• Medical and technical assistance
• Consulting on financial and program management
• Ministry skills
• Help with sustainability
