Resource Gap | How Your Contributions are Used | LifeRise Accounting

As a nonprofit ministry, LifeRise AIDS Resources depends on contributions from churches and individuals. LifeRise is a qualified 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the US. All contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by US law. Please visit Donate to send a contribution.

Resource Gap

International donors, governments, philanthropists, politicians, and celebrities have poured millions of dollars into fighting HIV/AIDS. Yet, the crisis marches on and the gap between resources needed and resources available is substantial. For 2007, resources needed are estimated to be US $18 billion, however resources available are only US $10 billion (UNAIDS, 2006). Funding that is available today is projected to be only 1/3 of that which will be required to respond to the expanding epidemic in future years.

Resources and Christian Organizations

Although it is documented that faith-based organizations, and particularly those that are Christian, provide 40 to 70% of all health and social services in developing countries, Christian organizations do not receive a comparable percent of funding from international donors. Although approximately 25% of the US government’s development partners are faith-based, the percent of funds given to these partners is less in most countries. In 2006, only 12% of the funds granted through The US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) were given to faith-based prime partners (Center for Faith Initiative Partnerships, 2007). At most only 7% of funds from the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria are disbursed to faith-based organizations.

Call to Church to Sacrifice Resources to Save Lives

Often, those who contribute most generously to AIDS do not hold, and sometimes even denigrate, Christian values. At this critical juncture in the AIDS humanitarian disaster, God is calling the evangelical church is to sacrifice our resources to save lives. We are also called to engage in the international arena and promote Christian values and response and gain a greater share of resources from secular donors for quality programs. This is why LifeRise AIDS Resources works to build the capacity of evangelical Christians to provide services and mobilize churches and communities.

How Your Contributions to LifeRise are Used

LifeRise AIDS Resources is cognizant of the sacrifice of churches and individuals in giving. We are very grateful for all contributions. We desire and aim to be good stewards and manage funds with the highest integrity as we employ your contributions to get results and achieve impact. We use donations to fund the grants and medical and technical assistance that we provide to our local partners, as well as for LifeRise administration, personnel, travel and grants monitoring.

We may supplement our major source of funding, which is from churches and individuals, by seeking funding from corporations, foundations, and the US government and other large donors such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria as opportunities arise. We comply in good faith with any restrictions on government and other funds.
